book your session
I know you have hopes and dreams for your baby already. I can’t wait to learn all about you both! As we prepare for your session, I’ll send you a questionnaire to learn more about you, your partner and your baby; your due date; and your preference on location style. Then we’ll set a date!
GET DRESSED UP
Together, we’ll plan your wardrobe, and you’ll be invited to select a gown from my Client Closet if you’d like. I want you to feel as beautiful as you’ll look.
LET LOVE LEAD
On the day of your shoot, we’ll arrive on location where I’ll provide a changing tent so you can change comfortably as needed. I prefer to photograph during the Golden Hour, about an hour and a half before sunset, to get the perfect backlight. During the session, we’ll explore your tender connection with your baby and/or partner. Whether in genuine lifestyle interactions or editorial posing, your comfort is my number one priority.
TRUST THE PROCESS
Finally, within 3 weeks of your shoot, I’ll send you a sneak peek of your photos in a digital Heirloom Album. Then one week later, you’ll receive a separate link to your full gallery so you can select your chosen photos for download. The Heirloom Album is available for customization and purchase as a stunning gift or keepsake, marking these first special moments in your family story.

PREPARE FOR ARRIVAL
Let’s welcome your new baby to the world beautifully. By the time your baby is born, hopefully we already have a relationship through your maternity session. Otherwise, we’ll have a conversation about your due date and location preference. We’ll work together to schedule your newborn photos within the first 10 days of your baby’s life.
DESIGN THE LOOK
If you prefer at-home photos, we’ll discuss staging an area to achieve the Christine Deaton look, embracing natural light, using light walls and light furniture to allow your baby to be the focal point. For mothers who prefer, a studio session is available for booking.
FOLLOW THEIR LEAD
Photo sessions are baby-led, taking our time to make sure your baby is sleeping comfortably, using only natural poses. I provide wraps, headbands, hats, and postpartum gowns as needed.
SNEAK A PEEK
Within 3 weeks of your shoot, I’ll send a sneak peek of your photos in a digital Heirloom Album. Then one week later, you’ll receive a separate link to your full gallery so you can select your chosen photos for download. The Heirloom Album is available for customization and purchase as a stunning gift or keepsake, preserving forever your baby’s welcome into the world.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY MATERNITY AND NEWBORN SESSION?
We can book your sessions as soon as you know you’re pregnant, but definitely plan to contact me by the start of your second trimester.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE MATERNITY PHOTOS?
For the most tender moments, I like to book Maternity sessions when the mom-to-be is 26-30 weeks pregnant.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE NEWBORN PHOTOS?
The best Newborn sessions are when the baby is 5-10 days old. After that, instead of sweet sleepy baby photos, we’ll likely capture a more alert, happy baby. When you call during your pregnancy, I’ll hold the week of your due date on my calendar, making sure to stay flexible. Within 1-2 days of delivery, contact me again and we’ll finalize scheduling.
CAN I BRING MY SPOUSE AND OTHER KIDS TO A MATERNITY OR NEWBORN SESSION?
Absolutely! If your kids are young, I recommend bringing a helpful adult so mom can focus on the photo shoot.
CAN I CALL TO BOOK A NEWBORN SESSION AFTER MY BABY IS BORN?
While this is a possibility, I may not have availability. Contact me and we can discuss your options.
WHAT SHOULD I DO, WEAR, OR PREPARE FOR MY MATERNITY OR NEWBORN SESSION?
Before your session, I’ll send my curated Style Guide giving you all the details on what you and your family should wear, as well as how to prepare for the shoot, including how to get your baby sleepy, keeping your baby happy during the session, when to nurse, and more.
DO YOU PROVIDE GOWNS I CAN WEAR FOR MY MATERNITY OR NEWBORN SESSION?
Yes! My Client Closet can save pregnant and postpartum mothers so much time and stress. I have multiple styles and sizes, spanning from feminine casual to editorial glam. I even have sheer and lace robes for a more intimate and tender look for your changing shape.
WHEN WILL I receive MY PHOTOS?
I deliver your digital gallery link within 4 weeks so you can preview all the edited photos from your shoot. I choose only the most flattering, beautiful photos.
