Photo Session Day Tips

I’m sharing the best tips to help the day of your photo session run smoothly and stress free! We’ve all been there, the day of your photo shoot, and you’re running around trying to make sure everyone is ready. All while trying not to sweat in your new dress or have your makeup running before you arrive. Stress is not why you planned a special photo session. You hired a photographer who will deliver love-soaked and timeless images because you want to capture the love, connection, and bond you share with your family- not chaos and tears.

A day of joy and bonding with your family rarely comes without a little preparation. It’s important to have a plan and follow it. This way the stress doesn’t have a chance to creep into the day. First, spend the weeks leading up to your session curating everyone’s outfit. You can read about styling her, styling him, and styling the littles in my previous blog posts. Next, once you have a date for your session, then book hair and makeup appointments. That includes a blow out and style the day of for the girls, and haircuts a week before for the boys. Finally, be sure to have a pre-planned schedule on hand for your photo session day. This isn’t meant to be a stressful task, it’s simply a way to keep you on schedule. Before you know it, you’ll be at one of my dreamy desert locations, or maybe we’ve planned for me to come to your beautiful home! Either way, from the moment we are together you won’t need to worry about a thing. I’ll do my favorite part of connecting with you, by making sure all of the special details for your session are covered. We’ll start our time together by warming up with some natural interactions and lifestyle images. I will capture those snuggly images with your spouse, and the giggly images with the little ones. Then, when I’m familiar with your family, we’ll capture those classic portrait images. I’m always sure to fix your hair, your jewelry, and coach you through poses that will flatter every detail of your family. All while you relax and enjoy connecting with your people! 

When you are at a photo session with me, I’ll always make sure that everyone is comfortable, happy, and having fun. And, if their not, we’ll role with it! I always get the shot, promise!
